A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Katie Mayhew and I’m looking for a new family to nanny for full time. I’m eager to grow with a family and become a part of your village. I’ve grown up babysitting and have nannied for over three different families. I was also a teacher at Kensington School in St. Charles. Currently, I work as a nanny for a family with two children, ages 1 and 2. I plan age-appropriate activities with limited to no screen time, and provide safe supervision. I also handle light cleaning related to the kids and can prepare healthy meals and snacks. While I have experience with all ages of children, I’ve spent a significant amount of time in the infant room and with 1-4 year old children, making me very familiar with those age groups. I can provide references, rates and more information at your request! Please reach out if you think I would be a good fit for your family.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am a nanny currently for a 1 and 2 year old. I have also nannied for two other families with 1 year olds. I was a teacher at Kensington school in St. Charles. I was a teacher for 3 and 4 year olds. I have experiences with multiple children, a certification for food handling, and experience with kids who have food sensitivity or allergies.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love planning and carrying out age appropriate activities for children. I love to be outside. In the past we have done nature walk where we discuss colors and try to find bugs or different plants. Any type of water activities are so much fun for the kids. I’m a big fan of improving fine motor skills through various activities. We can do sensory play or finger painting or easy science experiments. I’ve found there are many educational ways to keep children entertained and learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny in my opinion is safety. No matter if a parent is working from home or an office I want them to know I will always put the safety of their children first. The first way I incorporate this into being a nanny is my CPR certification and first aid training for all ages. The quality of my supervision of your child is also important to me. I will not be on my phone. My focus will be on your children and the environment around them. Physical safety is super important but I also want to focus on emotional safety as well. I want your child to feel safe to communicate with me if they are able. I also am a huge fan of communication with parents. I want the parents to set the tone on how I interact with your child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nannying moments was when one of my younger kiddos was learning to walk. It’s such a blessing and a privilege to be included in these foundational moments with the families I work with.
