Safety first is the most important thing about being a nanny. Keeping the children safe and making them feel safe is key. Second would be treating the children like they are your own and like you would want someone to treat your children
My experience with special needs children...
I dated a gentleman whose daughter had autism for four years. She was eight when I met her but had the skills of a two year old.She could barely walk, talk, or use the bathroom alone. Her mother left her at the hospital when she was two during a therapy session and never returned. Therefore I took on the role of being her mother which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was several years ago although to this day if I see her in public she will shout MOM and run up to me and give me the biggest hug.

My favorite nanny moment is when children are ultra excited when I arrive and watching them grow up.
