A little bit about me

I am “the” ultimate example that every child is unique and needs room to grow and utilize their individual talents , but the one thing we all need is some kind of structure ! I have one child that is 14 and been caring for her, her best friend and autistic brother since they were born. I love being outdoors, creating games to play, and “indoor” days finding arts and crafts project, building forts to watch movies, and letting them use their imaginations!! With infants sometimes more than one technique to find the most effective way to calm them down, learn what they’re trying to verbally (but unable) to say, and stimulating their minds both physically and mentally so they do adapt to a routine and are comfortable with it and myself! I have had very effective techniques for developing a schedule that I’ve found they are more apt to tell me when I veer off if it! I’m extremely patient, flexible with scheduling, and would love to get the chance to speak with you and meet your kids!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with children with autism as well as ADHD. I did my own study into this to see how best to react to situations as well as what type of activities would stimulate without boring them!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Games (offline), puzzles, teaching them daily tasks without them actually knowing (let’s see who can put up all of their toys/clothes/etc correctly first and whoever does wins a prize!!), playing outside no matter what the activity be via exploring, walking, swinging, anything that gets them outdoors! I love “pretend” games with kids. I was an only child and had a chalkboard so I would teach my stuffed animals. That also progressed into building my own “fort” that was just mine to relax and no one was to enter unless they knocked, but I often went in there and drew pictures, colored, and read books. This is probably why I am such a visual person and love anything crafty! There isn’t a lot that I don’t enjoy doing with any age child except watching them sit in front of video games all day. I like to keep their minds stimulated and have had great success in deterring just screen time into real hands on time with very hss as happy children as well as parents!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Focusing on each child’s needs individually . We live in a completely different type of world now and it can be more than confusing. I want to give children the opportunity to remember to be themselves but also hold on to being a “kid” as long as you are one and don’t grow up too fast. Take in every bit of knowledge and have fun doing it! I try to show kids the “old” way of doing things (building forts, playing outside, being creative) versus always using the newest version of video games, electronics, etc, Sure we can have a dance party or movie time but I learned that I, myself don’t operate well without a schedule and all children no matter what age thrive on consistency, so when the schedule is made between me and (if of age) a child (or children) it’s a pact between us and I’ve seen outstanding results from when I’m there to manners, etc when you as parents come home!

My experience with special needs children...

I have taken care of children with ADHD, OCD, Depression, Anxiety, and Lower Scale Autism.

Sally B. - Seeking Work in Biltmore Forest

Babysitter Available in Biltmore Forest, NC: Sally B.

I’m an experienced and dependable caregiver with a lifelong connection to working with children. I began working with children at Camp Tekoa, where I discovered how much I genuinely love supporting and spending time with kids. After that experience, I began babysitting and nannying throughout high school and college, building strong relationships with families and gaining experience with children of different ages. I am currently a student teacher, which has further strengthened my skills in guiding, engaging, and caring for children in both structured and everyday settings. I enjoy creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where kids feel supported and encouraged to explore, learn, and be themselves. I’m reliable, patient, and truly value building positive relationships with the children and families I work with. I will graduate from UNC Chapel Hill in May with a degree in Human Development and Family Science.
