A little bit about me

My name is Katie I am looking for a full-time summer nannying position! Since a young age, I have had experience and a great passion for working with children! After graduating a year early from college, I have been working as a full-time district substitute teacher to gain experience before heading to graduate school. In the district that I work in, there are two full-time substitutes that float all three buildings each day (same required schedule as a teacher) to help out. I have gained an abundance of knowledge and skills through this opportunity! In fall, I will be attending graduate school to become a Speech & Language Pathologist. Outside of school, I enjoy meal-prepping, working out, traveling to explore new cities, and spending time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to continuing to work with children and hope to get to know and care for an amazing family!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

In the summer, I love to implement the outdoors into my daily activities. Especially for children, I think it is crucial that they spend time outdoors, away from the TV screens and enjoying the things around them. With this being said, some of my favorites include setting up a sprinkler for them to run through, picnics, playing at the park, going to the zoo, etc. However, when it is a rainy day or on the chilly side, I enjoy doing crafts since there is so much possibility in each childs' imagination, listening to music or having dance competitions (I loved this as a kid), and board games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I love being a nanny because I have always had a deep love for working with children. Their curiosity, creativity, and innocence bring so much joy into my life. I find a great passion in nurturing a child's development in both their academic skills and social interactions. Being a nanny allows me to create a safe and loving environment where parents can feel relieved by the care that their children are receiving. Additionally, I love that I am able to provide exploration and fun opportunities for the children. It's incredibly rewarding to be a part of their journey, helping them learn and grow every day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was reading a book with one of the kiddos that I nannied for. After reading, we were talking about inferences and what we thought the characters were inferring. I told the child my thoughts and they looked at me and said "you are wrong, this is what they actually mean." I love their imagination and how passionate they are about things that they enjoy doing and it made me giggle!
