A little bit about me

I'm a career Nanny and Family Assistant with 16+ years of experience. I offer multiple layers of support for families, including high quality childcare, pet care, cooking and baking, home organization, garden installations, errands/shopping, and elder care.

This is a bespoke role; I will work with you to create a winning plan for your family's unique needs. I am proactive and passionate about supporting families.

I'm best suited for a role that requires the skill set to manage many layers of care throughout the day, with minimal supervision, while always making children my priority.

When my schedule allows, I provide additional services on an as-needed basis: date night babysitting, overnight child/pet care for traveling parents, and postpartum care.

Please reach out and request my comprehensive guide detailing all of my services, experiences, childcare style -- and a sample of my curated menu for nutritious family meals. Please note: My rates range from $20 -- $30 an hour.

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Being in nature in every kind of weather; cooking and baking; reading books on a wide variety of subjects; playing board games, card games, and puzzles; listening to music; going to museums and art galleries; rolling, tumbling, stretching, dancing, and other dynamic body movement; teaching Activities of Daily living (setting the table, putting dirty clothes in the hamper, brushing teeth, getting dressed, basic first aid, washing dishes, tidying personal spaces, loading/unloading the dishwasher, etc); gardening and growing food; teaching good stewardship of nature and wildlife; socializing and learning etiquette, manners, and how to be a good neighbor. I do these things with all ages of children -- even infants!

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are two parts to "the most important part".

The first most important part of being a nanny is supporting working parents who need trusted, high quality, dependable childcare. The childcare journey can cause a lot of fear and anxiety, so a good nanny can provide peace of mind that parents are handing over their precious children to a competent and confidant caregiver.

The second most important part of being a nanny is affirming and empowering children to know their worth as human beings and to lay the foundation for success in life.

The saying, "Parents are raising adults, not children" is 100% true. And by extension this includes caregivers, family members, and other adults who support parents. Nannies are with families for only a season, so we are laying a foundation for the future.

We must affirm, guide, and challenge children. Establish healthy boundaries, form a mature emotional life and a curious intellect. Help parents raise good citizens of the world.

My experience with special needs children...

I'm not experienced with special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are when I see the joy and satisfaction a child experiences when they achieve something "big" that is outside the "child world".

A crawling toddler making it to the top of the stairs with very little assistance.

Getting to sit behind the wheel of a fire truck at the local fire station.

Preparing something all by themselves that will go in the oven and seeing how delicious it looks when it comes out.

Overcoming a fear that was weighing them down and impeding their ability to achieve something challenging.

Placing their own order at a coffee shop or restaurant. Even a very young toddler can achieve this! Even a young toddler can say, "milk, cup, please".

Asking the sales clerk to help them find an item in the store by themselves.

Any time I can affirm a child in his or her capabilities and autonomy, that is a winning moment for me. It is a gift to offer children the chance to discover their own abilities and talents out in the big world.
