Hello! I'm so glad you've been drawn to my profile! I have quite a bit of experience Babysitting and nannying though mostly with my family and family friends. I've been doing it for about 7 years. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Lots of volunteer work with my ward in the nursery and paid work from families in said ward.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm a big fan of things that involve creation. So making forts, playing with playdough. For older kids, I love to do crafts such as making bracelets and paintings. I've worked with kids who really enjoy gardening and working with plants. I also love parks and hiking. For older kids as well a fun lake trip or hike a long a river during the summer never fails to entertain.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It's important to always provide a safe space for the kids. It's scary bringing new people into your life. Especially someone like a nanny who may spend a good portion of time with you. My job as a nanny is not only to keep the children safe physically but emotionally as well. No matter what.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked a little with kids with autism. One of my younger sisters has autism as well as kids I would watch in the nursery in my ward. Some kids were nonverbal. Though I didn't have much contact with the nonverbal kids I know how to work with some. Every child is different and the same goes for children with special needs. While I would like to think I can get along with everyone sometimes that's just not the case. But your children deserve someone they can trust and feel safe and understood with. I would not continue a relationship with a child if they do not get the care they deserve from me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is when the mom of my kids went into labor. She called me at around 10 30 PM panicking because the mother-in-law wasn't getting in until the next morning. They had two kids at the time one was 2 and the other 1. The one-year-old had severe separation anxiety with her mother. No matter how many times I worked with her it still always took her about 30 minutes to an hour to stop crying. This particular night was especially bad because she was extra tired. Her older sister just used the excuse of her mom being in labor to stay up and play with her foam letters. (She is a very smart girl) Eventually, after walking around with the 1-year-old sobbing into my shoulder for about 20 minutes we came across one of her new books. Then I sat down on the couch with the two of them and read the book. Eventually, the sobbing slowed and the poor exhausted girls fell asleep on either side of me. The mother wasn't dilating fast enough so the hospital ended up sending them home. But it was a sweet night.
