My experience with special needs children...
I’ve grew up with my younger sister who has autism and sensory processing disorder. I didn’t know then but I realized now as the oldest sister I of course helped raise her. Many friends and family members have trusted me with the care of their littles especially their kids with special needs because I sprinkle a little extra love for them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I once had my God sister and brother for a whole week from the time we woke up to the time they went to sleep (ages 3 & 5). At the time this was the beginning of the pandemic and my kiddos were so bored. I decided we would do puzzles together and play dress up and run in the back yard. Anything I could think of to keep my kids happy I did. My god sister was starting in Kindergarten and it was hard for her to learn virtually. I read some of her assigned work and created our own little classroom for us to work in a few hours a day. Her dad was impressed with the progress she’d made in only a week. Once it was time for me to leave the kids hugged me so tight and even cried because they didn’t want me to go. It truly was an amazing experience.
