More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I coordinated and supervised the annual Sugar Free Weekend retreat, a program specifically designed for children living with diabetes and their siblings who had no medical issues. Caring for groups of 10 at a time, ensuring each child felt supported, safe, and included. Watching for health changes, administering support as needed, and maintaining communication with parents. This experience strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, manage multiple children safely, and balance fun activities with consistent medical awareness.
I've cared for children and families through my companion care work, where I provided support to households with various needs. This included helping with daily routines, offering emotional support, organizing activities, and creating a nurturing, stable environment for both children and adults. These experiences taught me to adapt quickly, communicate effectively, and build strong, trusting relationships with families from all backgrounds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor Activities: I love creating fun, educational moments inside the home. I enjoy reading stories, imaginative play, arts and crafts, puzzles, building activities, music time, sensory play, and simple science experiments. I also like teaching organization skills, doing creative projects, making cute lunches together, and incorporating learning into play in a natural, engaging way.
Outdoor Activities: Outside, I enjoy nature walks, playground time, sports, scavenger hunts, blowing bubbles, chalk art, picnics, and exploring new activities that help children build confidence and curiosity. I love encouraging movement, fresh air, and hands-on discovery, whether we’re playing games, going to the park, or enjoying creative outdoor adventures.

The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, the most important part of being a nanny is the opportunity to truly make a lasting impact on a child’s life. I lead with compassion, empathy, and intention in everything I do. Children remember how you made them feel... safe, seen, heard, and loved. I take that responsibility to heart.
I want every child I care for to feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow into the best version of themselves. Whether it’s teaching kindness, building confidence, helping them navigate emotions, or simply being a steady, loving presence, I aim to leave a positive imprint that stays with them long after our time together.
My hope is that one day, when they are older, they’ll look back and remember the lessons, the laughter, the patience, and the care, and on tough days they have joy to look forward to. That is the true heart of nannying for me.

My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for my cousin when needed who has a disability and unable to care for herself. I pay extra attention in these situations for the safety of the child but also because they have been through enough and so I would like t bring some joy, little surprises for them, maybe their favorite treat or toy with your permission, dedicated quality time, and making sure they are fed and happy while you are focused on things you need to get accomplished.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my funniest moments with a kid was when a little boy I was caring for decided he wanted to “cook dinner” for everyone. I thought he meant pretend play… but no. He marched into the kitchen with full confidence, grabbed a bowl, and proudly announced he was making “chocolate soup.”
Before I could even react, he dumped cocoa powder, Goldfish crackers, gummy bears, and exactly three blueberries into the bowl, because, in his words, “You need fruit so it’s healthy.”
He stirred it with the enthusiasm of a five-star chef, tasted it, made the most dramatic face I’ve ever seen, he was so into it. I couldn't stop smiling it was so cute.
I ended up ordering a pizza :)

Babysitter Available in Wilmington, DE: Declan M.
Hello. I have completed 3 years of a nursing major and will be entering my senior year of college in the fall. I have done four clinical rotations, including pediatrics, and I have my Basic Life support (BLS) certification. Additionally, I was a lifeguard three summers ago. I'm energetic, outgoing, love sports, board games, and being outdoors and find kids to be refreshingly honest and quite humorous. I've played, coached, and refereed soccer and through these experiences, as well as my pediatric clinical rotation, I understand the need to relate to children at their level and respect their unique personalities. My nursing studies this past year were very intense and left little downtime, so I'm looking for something that would offer some enjoyment while still utilizing my education and training. Please consider me if you're looking for a part-time sitter for your son(s) this summer.
