Hello, I am kaydawnah or Kayden for short, I have a few years experience in working with kids 4 and under. I've worked in three daycares and was a nanny for about six months back in 2018. My primary focus with the kids is helping them reach age appropriate mile stones and help them discover the world around them safely. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

in 2018 I worked in a 0-6yr daycare in my highschool as part of a class. I got my early childhood education certificate from that experience. that following summer I was a nanny for a lovely lady who worked from home and had 4 littles 5yr and under and another on the way. it was during this time I realized how much I enjoy this kind of work and the fulfillment I feel when working for a family. I worked in a daycare in 2019 in the 3s and 4s room. we focused on preschool learning and the importance of play. I also helped with potty training, language and confidence. I subbed in the 2s room in the mornings. serving breakfast and diper changes. the last day care I worked for was in [phone number hidden]. I worked with infants four weeks-1 year. besides diapering and bottle feeding we focused on tummy times, interactive play, fine motor skills and other developmental skill for the appropriate age.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

depending on the age of the child I have many activities I enjoy doing with them. for infants its mainly tummy time and sensory play, as they get older like toddlers we play with toys or I make up games based on what the childs interests are. I love doing crafts and sensory time. I enjoy taking kids outside and helping them explore and have fun while learning safety. I love doing music hour where we sing and dance I find this is one of the quickest ways to get a childs energy out while making them laugh. but most of all I listen to the child and find what activity's they like to do

The most important part about being a nanny...

a nanny needs to be aware, focused and communicative. but I'd also say the most important thing is empathy and understanding. these little minds are taking in so much information. kids need to be encouraged and cared for while they learn how to live as a person. a child should be met with curiosity and patience.

My experience with special needs children...

from [phone number hidden] I was a peer tutor helping kids with mental needs understand homework and school expectations. from [phone number hidden] I worked with adults with disabilitys. both mental and physical. I worked with therapists to make behavior plans. and helped them learn how to manage their big feelings in a healthy helpful way. I also want to note that I am on the spectrum and have a deep understanding on this topic from my vast work experience and personal experince.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had this really sweet 9month old who would get excited when my shift would start. He would always boot scoot to the door when he heard me talking
One day my shift started in the middle of nap time so I snuck in the room to relive my partner. When the baby woke up and saw me he let out the cutest noise and pushed his face and hands to bed end (he could see me thru the clear plastic) . When I picked him up he tried to give me a kiss on the nose like his mother would do to him. My heart absolutely melted. I began to sing softly to him and he he would coo and make noises back trying to make the sounds I was. I loved watching him try new sounds and learn how to use his vocal cords. Singing with him became a regular activity.
