My childcare experience includes helping care for children in family settings, spending time in foster care environments, and volunteering in a church nursery. I’ve worked with children of different ages and personalities, and my emergency medical training has also taught me the importance of staying calm, attentive, and responsible in unexpected situations.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’m a huge artsy fartsy and outdoorsy kind of girl, so I absolutely love getting creative and exploring with kiddos! Painting, drawing, DIY crafts, nature walks, scavenger hunts, playing in the dirt, collecting little treasures outside, you name it! I love letting kids use their imaginations, get a little messy, and just enjoy being kids. I’m always coming up with fun activities, especially ones that get us outside and away from screens. I believe some of the best childhood memories come from the simplest little adventures!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is making sure every child feels safe, understood, loved, and comfortable being themselves. Having grown up in foster care myself, I know firsthand how much of a difference a patient, caring, and dependable person can make in a child’s life. My own experiences growing up have played a huge role in shaping who I am today and sparked my interest in psychology, child development, and mental health. I genuinely love working with kids, especially getting to understand their little personalities and how their minds work. I’m still figuring out exactly what I want to pursue as a lifelong career, but I know I want to make a positive difference in children’s lives. I’m hoping that continuing to gain hands-on experience through nannying will help me discover where my passions fit best, while also giving families someone they can truly trust and depend on, not just someone who shows up for a paycheck.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve had the opportunity to work with children with Down syndrome and children on the autism spectrum through babysitting for family friends, helping with after-school programs, and volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club. These experiences have taught me that every child communicates, learns, and expresses themselves differently, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know what works best for each individual child. I’m very patient, understanding, and adaptable, and I believe in meeting children where they’re at rather than expecting every child to fit the same mold. I love celebrating the little victories, encouraging independence, and creating an environment where every child feels included, supported, and comfortable being themselves!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite childcare memories will always be when my little foster brother took his very first steps while I was babysitting him! Getting to witness such a huge milestone and being there to cheer him on was something I’ll never forget. I remember feeling so proud and excited for him! It’s little moments like those that remind me how special it is to be part of a child’s life. Watching them grow, learn, gain confidence, and accomplish new things is genuinely one of my favorite parts of caring for children.
