A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Kayla, an experienced nanny with 4+ years of professional childcare experience. I’m certified in Adult, Child, and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, have a clean driving record and own a reliable car. I’ve cared for children ages 3-13, and am happy to provide a resume and references upon request!

Beyond childcare, I assist with errands, chores, meal prep and scheduling. I bring patience, creativity and a nurturing approach (plus joy) to create a warm, engaging environment where kids can thrive!

A little about me — I’m currently applying to graduate school for Fall 2026 and am seeking a full-time nanny position in the meantime. I’m also available for occasional and recurring babysitting, as needed. My start time is very flexible, and I can begin sooner if needed!

Outside of childcare, I love reading, hiking, pilates, going to the beach, and exploring coffee shops and bookstores. I’d love to connect and see if we’re a great fit — looking forward to hearing from you!

"Kayla is an absolute pleasure! If you get the chance, you should most definitely snatch her up. She worked with my 2 children as a part time nanny for a few years. Both of my children took to her kindhearted and gentle approach. She was very reliable and always let us know as quickly as she could if anything came up where she could not report for duty. She has also gone above and beyond with my children in so many ways. She was always looking for fun activities to take them too and had lots of energy working with them. I very much appreciated her communication style-she would often ask my husband or I how to approach a situation she was unsure of just to make sure we handled it as a united front between the nanny and the parents. Even now, she has made lots of effort to keep in touch with our kids (she hasn't worked for us for some time but still reaches out). Kayla is really wonderful-I have no hesitation in recommending her."

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Beyond my 4+ years of professional childcare experience, I was also a Counselor for Kesem at UW-Madison throughout my time at college. Kesem is a national nonprofit supporting children through and beyond a parent’s cancer. As a counselor, I created a safe, welcoming environment, built meaningful relationships with campers and families, led age-appropriate activities and implemented conflict resolution strategies. I later served on the Executive Board as a Volunteer Coordinator.

Additionally, my childcare experience originally began in high school as a Counselor-in-Training at Camp Cumberland, where I supervised campers, organized activities, fostered a positive environment and ensured their well-being.

These experiences have aided in shaping my ability to nurture, lead and engage with children of all ages!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I prioritize creating a nurturing, warm and creative environment, always tailoring activities to each child’s interests. I also focus on minimizing screen time, encouraging engaging and stimulating experiences instead!

Some of my favorite activities include neighborhood walks, arts and crafts, reading, coloring and imaginative play for younger kids. I also love taking children on “adventures” — whether it’s a trip to the park, pool, farmers market, beach, museum or pumpkin patch even. I also enjoy sports (tennis, pickleball, swimming, soccer, volleyball), karaoke, Legos, treasure hunts, bike rides, baking, hikes and more!

Above all, I strive to make every day fun, enriching and filled with new experiences!

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part about being a nanny isn’t just providing a nurturing, warm and creative space — it’s about building a meaningful connection with both the child and their family. When trust is established, children feel safe, supported and truly cared for in every moment we spend together.

I love showing up for my kiddos beyond daily care, whether it’s cheering them on at a soccer game or celebrating them at a dance recital. These bonds create a welcoming environment where kids feel comfortable, confident and free to grow!

The connections I’ve built with my families truly do mean everything to me, and I’m proud to say that I’m still in touch with many of them today. For me, being a nanny is really about becoming a trusted and loving presence in a child’s life!

My experience with special needs children...

While I don’t have extensive hands-on experience with special needs children, I have worked with teens of various personalities and abilities as a Counselor for Kesem at UW-Madison, primarily in the TLP (Teen) Unit for ages 14-18. During this time, I worked with two teens who had special needs. While they had direct care providers, I helped facilitate their activities, daily routines, and social interactions to ensure they felt included and supported.

Beyond that experience, I’m always eager to learn, adapt and apply my skills to best support a family’s needs. I’m always open to training and guidance to provide the best possible care!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments happened more recently after parting ways with a family I worked with for around 1 to 1.5 years, caring for their 3 and 5-year-old. Though I moved away, we stayed in touch through calls, gifts for birthdays and holidays, and even a visit six months later.

The moment I walked in, both kids ran into my arms, saying how much they missed me. From there, we spent nearly an hour as they excitedly showed me all their Christmas presents and told me all about their lives since I had moved. Later, the family and I all went to lunch, caught up and planned our next video call.

I cherish this memory because it highlights the lasting connections I form — not just with the kids but with the entire family as a whole. For me, being a nanny isn’t just a job; it’s about creating meaningful relationships that leave a lasting impact on both their lives and mine!

I am an honest and trustworthy and hardworking and I do all my work with love and care. I am humble, charismatic, funny, and empathetic with family and friends. I love children and I have three children and we often go to the park and spend quality time doing activities such as arts and crafts, board games, and cooking. I love being around children talking with them and playing, listen to them and help them with anything they need help with. I like to help children being independent and learn life skills such as cleaning up, cooking, doing tasks without reminders after teaching/encouraging them to do them initially. I love nature and I sometimes take children for short walks in nature. Gracias!
