Hi, I’m Kayla Kelly, an 18-year-old college student with over 4 years of childcare experience. I graduated high school early and am now studying Business with a focus on Real Estate and Escrow. My goal is to earn my AAS, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees and eventually start a real estate firm with my sister. I’m CPR and First Aid certified and have cared for infants, toddlers, older children, and kids with special needs. I’ve managed groups of three or more children at once, ensuring their safety and engagement. Additionally, I volunteered at an after-school program, helping kids with homework and activities. I also regularly assist family and friends by caring for their children and visit my old school to support students and staff when needed. These experiences have helped me develop patience, responsibility, and a deep understanding of children’s diverse needs.

Some of my favorite activities to do with children are creative and hands-on ones that let their personalities shine. I love reading stories together, doing arts and crafts, playing imagination games, and building things like pillow forts or LEGO creations. I also enjoy outdoor play—like going for walks, playing tag, or having simple scavenger hunts. For older kids, I like helping with homework in fun ways or doing beginner baking projects. I always try to choose activities that help them learn, grow, and feel confident, while still having fun and being themselves.

The most important part about being a nanny is building a safe, trusting, and nurturing relationship with the child and their family. At its core, nannying isn’t just about supervision—it’s about providing consistent emotional support, encouraging development, and creating a space where the child feels secure, seen, and valued.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children has been both humbling and incredibly rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to care for children with a range of unique needs, and each experience has taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and adapting to individual differences. I take the time to learn what makes each child feel safe, comfortable, and heard—whether it’s using calming techniques, creating structure, or adjusting activities to their strengths and abilities. Every child deserves to be seen and supported for who they are, and it’s a privilege to be someone they can trust and thrive with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when a little boy I cared for looked up at me with his big eyes and said, “You’re like my superhero, but with snacks!” We had just finished building a pillow fort, and he proudly declared I was the best fort-builder in the world. Moments like that remind me how much kids notice and appreciate even the little things—and how special it is to be part of their world, even for a short time.
