A little bit about me

Hi my name is Kayla and I've always had a passion for working with kids! I have had the pleasure of caring for children who are medically fragile, have special needs, learning disabilities, severe trauma and everything in between. I've been fortunate enough to have spent time in many different forms of childcare such as nannying, daycare, summer camps, and have many siblings of my own. The last two years I have been lead teacher in a toddler class room in a childcare center and loved every second. I am ready, however; to have a more personal experience with a child(children) and their family!

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going outside as much as possible! I enjoy bughunting, walking/hiking, playing at the park, chalk on the sidewalk, bike riding etc. I often pack a bag and let the adventure find us! Inside I enjoy having dance parties, doing puzzles, baking, and lots of hide and seek!

My experience with special needs children...

My family fostered for almost a decade growing up and I have had lots of brothers and sisters with adverse needs. I've worked with kiddos with various levels of trauma and am trained in the proper response. I've worked with kids with adhd, down syndrome, non-verbal autism, etc.
I also have experience with medically needy children. Kids with narcolespy, diabetes, severe allergies, rigorous feeding schedules, even a child who couldn't eat anything thinner than honey!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Most recently, I was tucking my little girl into bed. I covered her up with her favorite blanket, gave her the picture of her mom she sleeps with, and asked, "Is there anything else you need sweet girl?" She replied with a quiet, "yes." I said, "Oh okay, what do you need?" Without missing a beat she says, "I need you to leave me alone!" And rolled over to go to sleep, which was clearly overdue.
