A little bit about me

My name is Kaylee Cox! I'm born and raised in Murfreesboro. I graduated during the pandemic in 2020 from Rockvale High School. In high school I took a year of Early Childhood Education. I also took a year of Heath Science, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Emergency Medicine, and Medical Therapeutics. I have a year total of daycare experience from two separate companies. I have worked with mainly infants through four years. I have around seven years of paid experience working with children total. I started babysitting around my neighborhood at the age of fourteen. I worked for Learning Zone for around eight months and Salem Academy for two months. I earned all state required certifications and am currently certified until next July. I have a babysitter certification through the Red Cross. I was trained in CPR through my various courses in high school and college, but I am not currently certified. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I was growing up my mom was a single mom and I had two younger brothers. I helped her get the boys ready for school, take them to doctor appointments, take them to soccer and basketball practices, assisted with homework, etc. My grandmother also had an in home daycare where I assisted when I was 16.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love staying away from media as much as possible. I am a believer in learning through play. I love challenging their minds with different activities to stimulate cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills, language development, and social development. I enjoy researching activities, crafts, or games that are fun and educational. I enjoy going outside and doing activities outside to teach them the world around them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety!!! Ensuring all precautions are taken. Knowing allergens and food/product sensitivities. Being aware that every child has their own schedule and routine. If the child is an infant, being aware of safe sleep ABC's to prevent SIDS. Always paying attention to the environment around the child to prevent small toy choking, falls, accidental shock, and accidental drowning. Paying attention while their eating even with bottles to prevent choking. I take safety with the upmost concern. If something is to happen, the parent/guardian is to be notified immediately. If I am unable to get a hold of the parent/guardian, I will try all emergency contacts that I am given (if applicable). If it is emergent, call 911. If it was an injury or a scrape, I will document with pictures and leave a detailed message regarding what, when, how, and where it happened. I love having fun but never taking a risk.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Watching one of the first babies I ever babysat grow up and now she is almost in middle school!! My favorite but not my favorite thing to watch at the same time. Watching her personality blossom to the young girl she is now makes me feel so blessed to be a part of her life!
