A little bit about me

I’m Keaton, and I’m looking for a job where I can help both children and their families while I am working towards my associate’s degree at Kirkwood! Through work and school, I have earned certifications and received training in CPR, first aid, disease and injury prevention and child abuse prevention. I enjoy working with children and I am currently working at a local childcare center, usually keeping up with eight or more children at once, depending on age group. I have worked with ages ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years, but my personal favorite to work with are toddlers and older kids.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a pretty big extended family, so I’ve been around little ones almost all of my life. There have been times where I’ve been left to watch my younger cousins and we were able to keep each other entertained.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read to children and come up with crazy stories to entertain them. I enjoy coloring and drawing on my own, so I also find it to be fun to do with children. I also like helping children use their imagination while roleplaying (such as opening up our own restaurant!)

The most important part about being a nanny...

Keeping the kids safe, and having fun while doing it.

My experience with special needs children...

My younger sister has pretty severe ADHD, so I have become accustomed to meeting the needs of children who have such disorders growing up with her. At my current job, I work in a fast paced environment with children who have a variety of unique struggles that have to be accounted for. I have worked with some autistic and nonverbal children, and through cooperation with parents been able to help make their children as comfortable as I can.
