Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Hi! I was a camp counselor for nine weeks over summer at an overnight horse camp. I took care of nine girls in my cabin every week. I was on call 24 hours and gained a lot of experience and valuable lessons. I’ve taught English in the Dominican Republic for a month, and three weeks in Chiang Rai, Thailand. I’ve also done a bit of babysitting when I was younger for families in my neighborhood.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some indoor activities I enjoy with children are baking, making slime, crafts, games and songs (I know a lot from being a counselor), creating our own stories and anything they suggest and are enthusiastic about. Some outdoor activities I enjoy with children are playing with chalk, making and completing relay races, getting ice cream and going to a park or beach, hula hooping, art projects, picnics and anything else! I’m very open to new ideas and would never take your child anywhere or do home activities such as baking without permission.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Getting to know your child and connecting with them is important to me. I believe it’s critical for them to feel comfortable around me, and to build a bond over time! I also will be more than happy to help with homework and reading.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with and organization called TRS in San Diego for four years. I would work one on one or in groups with children and adults with special needs. I volunteered at their beach camp over summer, zoo trips, barbecues, crafts and many more activities.
