I am a mother of two toddlers! My son is almost 3 and my daughter is 5 and just started Kindergarten! I have worked in childcare for 6 years and am state certified in Texas to teach preschool. I have worked at reputable schools and Christian-based schools in the area and have many great references. I'm looking to do more personalized-type care to do whatever fits your needs in your home. I worked for Longview Christian Academy for a few years, as well as Alpine Christian Academy. I am currently employed at ACA still, and would need to put in my two weeks if I find a good nanny opportunity on here.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love anything arts and crafts. Music is another favorite. I typically do not involve screentime, unless it is at the parent's request. The activities really depend on the child's age and what their interests are.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety. Security. Awareness. Alertness. Love. Kindness. Patience. Everything about being a nanny is important. You are trusting someone to come into your home and care for your child. I am a mother, myself. I hardly trust people with my two, so I know how hard it is for a parent to let someone in to do this. I know all the rules and procedures for the state of Texas that is required for a licensed childcare facility. Safety and wellbeing of the child are of the utmost importance. As well as physical and mental health, hygiene, and nutrition. With me, your child will learn age-appropriate skills, have things to do to keep them busy, will be clean (as in you won't come home to your child being filthy because of neglect on my part, I still encourage sensory and free play and outside play and whatever comes along with that), and will have had a great day! Some hard days are to be expected, especially in the beginning as they have to meet me and become comfortable.

My experience with special needs children...

I've worked with a few children that have autism, as well as physical disabilities. I actually was a step mom to a sweet 6 year old little girl who had a heart transplant at the age of 2. I'm familiar with seizure protocols, a set medication schedule and the importance of following it, warning signs of medical episodes, etc. I've worked with children with severe OCD, ADHD, and ADD disorders, as well as have some family members with similar diagnoses. I am very understanding of outbursts and behavioral change that can accompany some of these disorders as well. I am very patient and empathetic and will help however I can. The key is learning what works best for your specific child. Not every child is the same and certain things work for some kids, but don't for others. You know your child the best. I would love a good in depth conversation about your special needs child before care gets started to go over the best routine possible to make everyone happy and the care go smoothly .

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have more memories of other people's children than I know what to do with - haha! I love random hugs from my students (I work at school currently). I love learning each individual child and his/her personality. Even the "problem child" as some teachers would say, still turn out to be my favorite, because there's a sure way to reach every kid, you just have to find what works for who. Once that bond is established, we have lots of fun and learn new things! I love making kiddos happy and giving their parents the relief and comfort of knowing their kids are well taken care of and safe.
