The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, the most important thing about being a nanny is creating a space where children feel genuinely safe, seen, and supported. It’s more than just caring for their daily needs; it’s about nurturing their hearts, encouraging their curiosity, and helping them grow into confident, kind individuals. I believe children thrive when they feel understood and valued, so I approach each day with patience, presence, and positivity. Building that trusting bond with both the child and the family is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience supporting children with diverse developmental and emotional needs, including those with autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, and behavioral challenges. Through my background in social work, I’ve developed strong skills in patience, empathy, and adapting care to meet each child’s individual strengths and challenges.
I focus on creating calm, structured environments that promote safety, consistency, and emotional regulation. I use positive reinforcement, gentle redirection, and mindfulness-based techniques to help children feel grounded and confident.
I also work closely with families to maintain open communication and consistency between home routines and any therapeutic goals or strategies. My approach centers on compassion, respect, and helping every child feel valued for exactly who they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was with a little boy who used to have a hard time settling down at school. One day, I introduced him to a simple breathing exercise we practiced together whenever he felt overwhelmed. Over time, it became our thing; he’d come in, take a deep breath, and say, “I’m ready now.” Watching him find calm and confidence in himself was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do; helping children feel safe, understood, and proud of their own growth.

Babysitter Available in Baton Rouge, LA: Dawn P.
Hello there! My name is Dawn Perry. I began as a Nanny for several years before marrying my husband. Together we raised and home schooled our 5 sons. While he was pastoring, I taught piano on the side and worked in children’s and women’s ministry for over 30 years. Now that my own children are grown, I have enjoyed being a Nanny for a NICU nurse in my subdivision. They have been such a joy over the last two years and recently relocated after the birth of their precious second baby. I would like to also mention that I have worked with twins and triplets. I love children, I love families, I love to be a blessing, a support, and an encouragement…especially mothers! I look forward to the opportunities and doors that open for me to love on my next family. Life is sweeter with a good friend you can depend on. May you find just the right fit for your family!
