Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When weather permits, going on nature walks. Kids find the most amazing small things that we adults don’t even notice.
With babies/toddlers, I love dancing and singing with them. I love their giggles.
I love building forts and houses out of household items. (I must have not grown out of this, because I loved doing this as a kid too!)

The most important part about being a nanny...
It is easy to find someone who is certified in first aid and CPR. However, if there is an emergency, will your caretaker be able to properly perform these skills? As a former first responder, I maintain my composure and insure any first aid is done effectively.
My experience with special needs children...
In college, I did my internship at a daycare. I primarily dealt with kids on the spectrum. I also did work with a few hearing impaired children. My own children (the triplets) were premature and required PT, OT, and speech therapy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was watching a 6 month old girl and a 3 year old (almost 4 year old) boy. The boy was mostly potty trained and the parents wanted him to start learning to use the restroom by himself. I was holding the baby, when from the bathroom I hear “uh oh.” I asked from outside the bathroom what happened. He just said poop. As I started opening the bathroom door, he was reaching down with his bare hands to pick up the poop on the floor and put it in the toilet. We both washed our hands several times after this.
