A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Kinsey. I am 22 years old. Just graduated University in May, and moved back home. I spent the past 4 years working as a caregiver for a young teen with cerebral palsy, as well as watching over her younger sister who is not special needs. Through this job, I have experience with diaper changing, babyfood, feeding through a g-tube, and going on frequent outings around town to the park, mall, and out to eat together.

While my degree is in political science and history, and not nursing and the like, I have always been trusted to care for children 0m-15y old. My mom has worked at Yucca Mesa Elementary School since I was a toddler. Therefore, I often spend time in her classroom with the kids.

I absolutely ADORE children and their curiosity! I aim to become a teacher someday, but would like to carry on my job as a caregiver/nanny for a while longer while I work towards my teacher certification.

I was CPR certified: it expired. I am working on renewing it! :)

playing with nontoxic chalk on driveways (I have a plethora of crayola chalk!),
dress up/fashion shows,

Trust is the most important part about being a nanny/caregiver. We are trusted by loved ones and the child we are caring for to be responsible, reliable, and helpful. Our sole purpose is to provide our services to the family, make their lives easier, and the days run more smoothly. I insist on doing menial housekeeping during my shifts, because no one wants to come home to a messy environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My sweet girl, miss Emily, is nonverbal and communicates using buttons and her eye gaze. We have established signals for her to tell me "no" and "yes," so that I can ask her yes/no questions to effectively communicate. Anyways, there was a day before her homework was due, and she was evidently tired of doing homework. So, she started refusing to give me her answers, and then began giving me the blatantly wrong answers for each question, followed by laughter and giggles, because she was doing it on purpose and actually knew the right answers. Her humor is so crazy, but I love it!
