The most important thing about being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to grow. A great nanny does more than supervise—they build positive relationships, support each child’s emotional and developmental needs, communicate openly with parents, and provide consistent, dependable care. Knowing that parents can leave their children with complete peace of mind is one of the greatest responsibilities and rewards of being a nanny.

One of my favorite moments caring for children was when I helped a young child who was nervous about being away from their parents for the first time. We spent the morning reading books, building with blocks, and doing a simple craft together. By lunchtime, they were smiling, laughing, and proudly showing me the picture they had made. Before their parent arrived, they gave me a big hug and said, “I had so much fun today. Can you come back tomorrow?”
Moments like that remind me why I love working with children. Building trust, helping them feel safe, and seeing their confidence grow is incredibly rewarding.
