I also have worked with infants for 2 years I have experience working as a lead teacher with 1-2 years in a daycare for about 6 months. Then I became an assistant teacher working with 3,4 and 5 year olds. I work at bright beginnings in mount laurel
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy colouring, playing board games, going outside on the playground, reading books as well as sitting with them playing with their toys and doing whatever makes them happy. I love to make children smile and making them feel that they are seen, loved and appreciated.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I would say the most important part is probably making sure the child feels safe and comfortable around you.
My experience with special needs children...
Being with all different ages every special needs child is different I have two brothers and both of them have disabilities. One is autistic and the my other brother has multiple disabilities, so I can say that living with them has given me a lot of patience and teaches me how to be understanding when a child feels misunderstood. When I worked in an infant room I worked with a child who needed a helmet, because he constantly banged his head. When he didn’t get what he wanted he would throw a fit, he didn’t quite understand at that age the word no. But I always was patient with him and I comforted him in anyway. In my waddler classroom when I was lead teacher I had a child that was nonverbal, but he got services and I would teach him simple sign language and constantly teach him one word at a time, this would him repetition so he could learn the words and what they meant. He started to speak some words and did very well at saying my name and certain gestures.
The most important part about being a nanny...
As an on and off babysitter I would say my favorite moment would be when the child did not throw a tantrum when the mom and dad left. She would always be so good for me.
