The most important part about being a nanny...
LISTENING! Mothers and parents know the nonverbal cues of their kids extremely well, so it's important to learn these and pick up on the emotions of the children and listen. It can make or break how great your day is together!
My experience with special needs children...
I've worked with boys with autism both in the home and in the classroom. In the classroom, I worked on verbal cues and when to ask questions, and it was great! In the home, the boy was a nonverbal autistic, and we bonded through hand touch and arm squeezes.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My absolute favorite thing is the impact I have on the children even after I leave! I still hear from my friend that her son tells everyone sharing is caring! So glad we worked hard on that together and it just makes me so happy.
