A little bit about me

I'm a 19 year old college freshmen majoring in Rhetoric and Writing and minoring in Entrepreneurship. I enjoy reading, being outside, and indulging in the arts such as writing, painting, and theater! I adore kids, have incredible patience, relative babysitting experience, and soon certification. I believe one of the best ways to help children learn is through examples and interaction, such as using manners and treating them respectfully, but not so loosely they're unsafe.

My schedule is a little strict. I have classes until 3:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but am available by 3pm on the other weekdays. I'm looking for a family with grade schoolers that I can watch when they're done with their school. I can help with their homework as well. This is a preference, not a requirement. I can nanny for any family that might be able to work with my school schedule!

I do not have CPR or First Aid Certification as of August, but am in the process of training.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've always been great with children, and in the last year I was given the most wonderful opportunity to nanny for some family members. Watching their children grow and develop, helping them explore their environment, and being apart of their world has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I would love to the same for other children!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Active activities that help with growth, learning, and exploring are always my favorite. From The Children's Museum in St. George, to encouraging and engaging in imaginative play at home. I don't know much about activities to do in Cedar City beyond hiking or parks (which are still great options!) quite yet, but that just opens up the opportunity to get to know the city with your kids!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a safe adult for your children is always my priority. While I want to help you nurture kind and joyful kids, my number one goal will always to be a safe person. Which means boundaries and communication with both the parents/guardians and the children are essential. Before meeting you, I will have you fill out a form with crucial questions that I will keep documented in my duration as your nanny. These questions will cover allergies, medical information, permissions, and more.

While I believe discipline is important, I do NOT condone any sort of violence, emotional manipulation (such as guilt tripping,) or fear inducing tactics. Consequences that are safe and encourage critical thinking and empathy are and always will be the route I go. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

My experience with special needs children...

I am qualified to care for children with Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac Disease, or Neurodivergence. (More ADHD and anxiety specific, but good with others as well.)

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite moments in nannying is teaching children new skills and watching them use it appropriately in their everyday environment. I've recently helped one of my nanny kids learn to advocate for his personal space. Rather than resorting on instinctive behaviors such as hitting or shoving when his space feels invaded, he verbalizes his needs by politely asks for his 11 month old sister to be moved from his space. Watching him further grow into emotional intelligence and self-regulation, and guiding him through that has been such a privilege!
