My name is Lailah Coleman-McKnight, and I’m a freshman at the University of Akron studying in the Primary Inclusive Teacher Preparation Program. This program allows me to earn my Early Childhood Education degree, along with Special Education (Mild to Moderate) and a Reading/Writing Endorsement. I’ve always had a strong passion for helping children learn and grow, especially in inclusive and supportive classroom settings. On campus, I’m proud to serve as a Student Ambassador for the School of Education and as an Executive Board Member for ACES (Akron Council of Education Students). These roles have helped me connect with other future educators, build leadership skills, and represent a program that truly means a lot to me. Even though I have an IEP for reading and writing comprehension, I continue to push myself to grow as both a learner and a future teacher. My goal is to create classrooms where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to do their best.
