More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Relevant experience where I have cared for children includes over 10 years of hands on childcare experience, beginning with helping care for my younger sister from the day she was born. I have experience nannying children from 3 months old all the way up to 10 years old, giving me experience with different ages, routines, personalities, and developmental stages.
I have homeschooled my sister from 1st through 3rd grade and am continuing into 4th grade, creating engaging learning experiences and supporting her growth. I have also spent five years coaching recreational, competitive, and school cheerleading, along with private tumbling lessons for children ages 5-16. Additionally, I have volunteered in recreational programs and worked as a para, allowing me to support children with different needs and abilities.
I love creating a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where children feel supported, confident, and excited to learn, play, and grow.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love creating fun, meaningful experiences with kids that encourage creativity, learning, and confidence! Some of my favorite activities include arts and crafts, baking and cooking together, reading, swimming, outdoor adventures, games, imaginative play, building forts, science experiments, educational activities, and exploring new hobbies. I also love staying active with kids through sports, movement activities, and helping them learn new skills. My goal is always to make each day fun, engaging, and memorable while creating an environment where children feel encouraged to explore, be creative, and be themselves.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is creating a relationship built on trust, love, and consistency. Children need someone who makes them feel safe, valued, and supported while encouraging them to learn, grow, and become confident in who they are. I believe being a nanny is more than just providing care. It’s about being a positive role model, creating meaningful memories, and showing up each day with patience, kindness, and enthusiasm. Building a strong connection with both the child and their family is what makes the experience truly special.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moments are the ones where we’re creating memories while having fun and learning along the way. I especially love our pool days because they’re filled with laughter, confidence building, and making the most of our time together. I also love our educational lessons and the crafts and activities we create afterward that connect to what we learned. Seeing kids get excited, ask questions, try something new, and feel proud of what they accomplish is one of the most rewarding parts of nannying.

Hi there! My name is the Thea Melvin and I am a current student at ZHair academy in Lawrence. I have been working with kids all my life but nannied and babysat frequently for about 4 years. The last kids I nannied for were 6 and 8. While taking care of them, we frequently would play soccer, go to the park, take walks and make up new games around the house. I also held the responsibility of driving them to practice, helping with homework and making meals for them. I am a very clean person and will always pick up the house and clean up different rooms. Live-In Full-Time Nanny Available in Lawrence, KS: Brooklyn E.
I’m a recent college graduate with a degree in chemistry. I was a lifeguard for many years, so though I’m not first aid or CPR certified currently, I still have those skills. I have taught highschool through college age students academically and 3-15 in swimming lessons, and grew up helping in the church nursery so I have plenty of experience around children. I’m looking for seasonal work before I start my PhD and would love to help you with your kiddos!
