A little bit about me

My name is Laura, I am from El Salvador but have lived in MD since I was 6. I am 22 years old. I have always loved working with children and knew since a young age that is what I wanted to do. I’m very creative, responsible, and love being with children. I started volunteering at a childcare center in 2016. In 2017 I became a part time employee there. Once I graduated high school in 2018 I started working full time at the center. Within a year I had most of my certifications and was considered a preschool teacher at the center. I was a nanny for two families in 2020 while the daycare was closed due to COVID. I nannied short term for a 3 year old boy and I also nannied part time for a 6 month old baby boy. In 2021 I started working full time as a nanny for a 5 month old girl (now 22 months). My approach is learning through play because children are more involved and engaged when they learn by playing. I offer children a loving, caring, and respectful learning environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was able to teach the 22 month old baby girl basic signs (eat, drink, milk, more, all done) when she was around 7/8 months and she was able to communicate to her parents when she needed something. I was so happy that i was able to help not only her communicate her needs but also helped her parents and made it a little easier for them to understand when she wanted something.
