I'm a dynamic, enthusiastic, and thrive having an audience (as much as I hate to admit it!). I've been babysitting for almost 10 years for both boys and girls from ages 6-13, and I would always end up so astonished by how I started to really enjoy going to spend time with the kids so quickly. One of my favorite things about babysitting is that, in even if it is in the most insignificant ways, just by doing your job you may have made an impact on that person that could help him or her navigate growing up a little easier.

My experience with special needs children...

I have babysat several children with autism, ADHD, or another neuropsychological difference. In many cases, working with Aspergers kids in particular, you have to understand the peculiarities or even limits tied to their difference that you might not understand; having a severe reaction to an unexpected loud noise, bursting into tears at feelings overwhelmed, or even developing an intense crush. I find that I communicate pretty effectively with kids like these and am good at forming bonds based on respect.
