Hi! My name is Laurel Evans and I am currently completing my undergraduate studies in psychology and child and family development. I plan to pursue a career in child psychology as working with kids is something that brings me great joy and fulfillment. I would describe myself as an energetic and empathetic individual who loves to care for people. I grew up in Vermont and went to boarding school on the water in Massachusetts, so I love to spend time outside. I adore kids and I would love to devote my summer caring for them. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a lot of experience with kids; I have babysat, mentored, and tutored. I have also done a lot of work with children with special needs. And, I am currently volunteering at an after school program for kids from low income areas.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Honestly, I have done it all with kids! I connect super well with children and I love to meet them where they're at when it comes to their interests and needs. I would love to go on adventures to farmers markets, swimming, biking, etc. I also like to bake with kids, do arts and crafts, and have story time. I have a lot of energy and am truly up for whatever!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is keeping children safe while allowing them to explore their curiosities! I connect very well with children and am also a responsible and conscious individual. I provide a safe avenue for exploration and creativity- two elements of great importance in childhood.

My experience with special needs children...

My step-sister has down syndrome so I have a lot of learned experience growing up and caring for her. I have also volunteered with Special Olympics since I was a child; I have been a track coach at the games as well as a volunteer in skiing. I was also a member of the Best Buddies Organization at BU where I fostered friendships with individuals in the community with developmental disabilities. The after school program I volunteer at currently hosts mostly special needs children who I work with closely.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nannying moments was with my two year old neighbor, Elle. We have a pizza oven in our back yard and so all of our neighbors came over for pizza night. Elle came fully equipped in her rain boots and I spent about an hour with her doing her favorite activity: puddle stomping. We ran around the entirety of our neighborhood (a small cul de sac) finding every possible puddle to stop in. The joy and laughter brought to her face is an image I can still see clearly; it is a day I look back on fondly.
