A little bit about me

Hello,
My name is Lauryn but most of my students and families would call me Ryn its much easier! I have been babysitting since I was eleven years old. When I became of age I started working in daycares as a teacher and fell even more in love with working with children. I am CPR/FIRST AID certified. I also have obtained my Early Childhood credentials. I have a special place in my heart for special needs children as I am currently enrolled at East Carolina University majoring in Speech and Hearing and a minor in special education and psychology. I am a Registered Behavior Tech and have ample experience with children in the autism spectrum. I love anything art related and being out in nature. I have a passion for helping tiny humans grow and become the best version of themselves. To feel loved and safe when mom and dad are not there. While also creating the best environment for them to grow in. Lets work together to shape the next greatest generation!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Preschool teacher for the last 8 years. I was a nanny in wake forest for two years. I also have special needs care. Registered behavior technicians for the last two years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

baking, arts and crafts, reading. But some times movie days are needed as rewards. Anything outdoors, going to the park, walks, trips to the library or local museums.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny/care giver or even a teacher. Is to love each child as your own. Be kind, be patient but most importantly love them and let them know they are just as important. Validate there feelings. Create a safe place for them to be 100% themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with autistic children, MS, downsyndrome, ADHD, non- verbal. During my highschool career I was a teacher assistant in the special education class, following graduation I received a job with a special needs girl. We worked on communicating ( non- verbal) learning to write, basic life skills. I assisted in daily care activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many, but if I had to choose, Valentines day in 2019, I went around my classroom and asked each of my students what love was. Mind you they are ages 4-5. When I came to one student he looked dead in my face and said. " love is when, mommy is sad and daddy gave her the rest of his fries. They were from chick fil a too, so those were the best. I didn't want to share but daddy did so that means he really loves mommy. "
He clearly has loved figured out!
