More About Me
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Being outside! Living in South Dakota we get the privilege of enjoying all four seasons with children-playing outside, swimming, hiking, sidewalk chalk, biking, sledding, playing in the snow, butterfly house, library activities, arts and crafts, reading, playing with toys ,etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being there for the whole family. What I want to provide for families is the peace of mind, knowing that their children are with a safe, positive caregiver who understands each child’s unique needs and takes care of all the little things that maybe some times get forgotten in the daily hustle and bustle.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children with all needs. I have worked with children both developmental, psychiatric and intellectual disabilities. With my experience at All Souls Church I current care for a child diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, and while at the Crayon Box Learning Center I provided individual tutoring session for a child diagnosed with ADHD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite memories is also one of my saddest memories. I worked as a respite worker for a foster family when I lived in Minnesota. I worked with three children, but on this day I was watching only two of the three, and these two were siblings that were going to be adopted by a family in North Dakota. On this day, I came to the home earlier, made pancakes with my little helpers, and they decided that we were going to build a fort and read for the majority of the morning. Once I a while I’ll get knees from the previous foster family on how they are doing. These two children taught me so much that summer, and that day I remember hugging them goodbye and knowing that my last day with them was one they would remember because all we did was spend the day reading with someone they knew cared for them.
