The most important part of being a nanny is patience. Kids are going to be loud, messy, emotional, energetic, and curious because they're kids. Every day is different, and not every day is easy. I've learned that staying calm, being understanding, and meeting children where they are makes all the difference. If you don't have patience, this probably isn't the right job. But if you do, watching children learn, grow, and become more confident is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.
My experience with special needs children...
While working at a daycare, I had the opportunity to work with a toddler with autism. It was a learning experience, and I worked closely with the child's therapists and teachers to make sure we were supporting their development and following the strategies that worked best for them.
That experience taught me that every child learns at their own pace. Patience, consistency, and understanding are so important. I believe every child deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and encouragement, and I always focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where they can feel comfortable being themselves.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has been watching the little girl I currently care for grow up. I've been with her since she was just six weeks old, so I've gotten to witness so many of her firsts, from her first steps and first words to watching her personality develop. Even though she's not my child, being a part of those milestones has been such a special experience. Now she's getting ready to start school, which is bittersweet. I'm so proud of how much she's grown, and while it's sad that she doesn't need me the same way anymore, it also makes me feel like I did my job well.
