A little bit about me

I am in my 3rd year of college working towards my bachelor's in elementary education! I am hoping to get some more experience with childcare and to help take away some stress from a busy family! I am great with kids and have three siblings myself, two of which are younger. I am used to a loud and busy family so there is absolutely no judgement and I'd be happy to take on extra responsibilities such as cleaning and cooking if needed! I have experience as a swim instructor with students as young as 6 months old, this can be quite a dangerous job. My number one goal is to ensure safety while working. Some fun facts about me is that I am a college cheerleader! I enjoy anything artsy and would love to do fun crafts with the kids. I have experience babysitting for a family with two young kids aged 1 and 4, they are a limited to no screen time family so we find lots of fun activities to engage in. I look forward to finding the perfect family to work for!!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my favorite indoor activities to do with young girls is to play dress up and let them give me a makeover (they love this even though I may come out looking a little crazy sometimes) This can even lead to karaoke and choreographed dances to Disney songs
I also love reading books! I probably read 15+ books every time I babysit, sometime the same book 5 times in a row. I think including some educational elements are great too.
I also enjoy bringing over coloring books/general art supplies (we love to color pictures for the mom and dad!)
Outdoor activities:
Taking the kids on a walk, going to the park, playing creative adventure games. If it is nice and sunny out you can't go wrong with chalk and bubbles!

As far as infants go, simply talking to them throughout my day is a great one! Reading books, feeding bottles, changing diapers, and getting them down for naps. Tummy time and engaging activities with age appropriate toys as well!

My experience with special needs children...

Working as a swim instructor there are a lot of diverse students that come into lessons. I have experience with students with ADHD, autism, speech/hearing disabilities, and even cases where a student had a feeding tube and a cleft lip that limited their ability to have their face under water. Aside from this I have volunteered in classroom where there have been special needs students that I directly worked with and support during small group activities. Although my experience may be limited in a long term status, I am more than happy to continue educating myself and learn to do the best that I can with children of any background!
