Although I don't have much experience with children who have special needs
My nephew Koa is nonverbal and autistic and I understand how differently he functions from other children. When I'm tasked with caring for him I make sure to pay extra attention and accommodate to his specific needs as requested by his mom or rather my cousin. Otherwise I treat him like I would any other child, we still laugh, watch movies, play with toys ect.

Although I can't pinpoint a specific moment, receiving drawings and heartfelt messages has always warmed my heart! I have a whole wall of them from my nieces, nephews and cousins in my room.
