I have 4+ years of experience being a trusted volunteer at Eastern Hills Community church in the Nursery with ages 0-5yrs. I nurtured infants closely ensuring safety, stimulation, and well-being.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to invent fun craft activities for kids to participate in. Crafting is a good mechanism to stimulate creativity and freedom for kids. Also, for the kiddos who have separation anxiety from mom and dad, it can work as a comfort tool to know that when you see mom and dad again, you’ll get to show them your new craft and give it to them as a surprise! I also love taking trips outside to parks, pools, etc. There’s never a dull second when we can explore fun imaginary games outside and use nature’s resources to have fun! As a child care provider, I believe that kids should spend more time outside playing than they do inside watching TV. It’s better for their development, and health!
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, the most important part about being a nanny is ensuring child safety. As a nurse aid, and previous lifeguard, safety is everything. While engagement is very important because kids should have a fun and enjoyable experience with whomever their nanny is, the most important thing is that protection always comes first and is taken seriously. When you commit to be a nanny, it is a very big responsibility to care for others children. Children are the light of the world, and they should be protected and kept safe at all costs.
My experience with special needs children...
I have moderate experience with special needs children. At Eastern Hills community church, I have volunteered in the ILC department to care for those with special needs, autism, and disabilities. I have a tender heart and loving attitude that allows me to keep patience, empathy, and compassion when caring for those who need a little extra attention.
