More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a gymnastics coach for many years working with children ages 2-12 in groups at a time. I had to learn how to safely watch many kids at a time along with teach them the beauty of learning new skills and watching them succeed. It was the most full-filling job ever and I miss it every day. Watching the joy in those kids be proud of the things they were learning was amazing. It was so great to have those kids look up to me. So if you got a gymnastics loving kid I would always be happy to teach them some skills!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Crafts is my go to, along with I am a master fort builder. I would take them on all kinds of adventures that they would like to do. We could go to the beach or to any children's groups if you are wanting them out of the house at all. We can play all day, I truly will do anything the kids are passionate about and learn with them. I love listening to kids ramble about their favorite TV character or favorite sport and I will do my best to learn all about it so that I can be just as passionate as they are. Time spent outside is so beneficial for everyone so lots of outside time is always so fun.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Teaching children to love who they are and be proud of themselves. Teaching children self love I feel like is often looked over so I want to put so much emphasis in teaching children to really love everything about themselves and be proud of all their cute little quirks and uniqueness about themselves.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with over 5 special needs children in my life. Including down syndrome and autism. I tutored a little boy with down syndrome and it was such a great experience. Learning about his special way of learning and changing my teaching habits to effectively help him learn was such a beautiful thing. I have also had several special needs kids in my gymnastics classes that I have taught in groups or special one-on-one classes.
The most important part about being a nanny...
By far a girl I use to babysat next door every day I didn't babysit her would leave a note on my windowsill that said goofy things like "its been a rough day because you are not here watching us" or "I miss you can you just come by and play" or "when do you babysit next, I have new crafts to show you" and they would always be dropped off with little flowers or candies and it was so cute. It was so nice having her live next door because I was able to make this extra special connection with her which is why a live-in nanny position is exactly what I want!
