My experience with special needs children...
My friends younger brother drowned, but when he got back from the hospital, he was pretty much like a newborn, but he had a feeding tube and he couldn't talk or walk anymore. I had to change the tube, change diapers, feed through the tubes, etc,etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite I can think of is when it was a hot day and the kids wanted to play outside, but there were no water toys outside, so we got thinking. We ended up putting garbage bags out of the lawn with soap and a hose. We make a slip n slide! It was so much fun. Once we got all down we went inside for a snack and everyone was just chomping, watching Shrek for the 1000th time. It was perfect.

I love taking them into the community, and my favorite errand is to go grocery shopping with the kids then have them help with the cooking to get them to try new cuisines. If they happen to pick up a knowledge of fractions from using measuring cups, perfect!
