Hello! My name is Lilia Aldrich and I am a 23- year- old student at Walla Walla Community College. I began babysitting my four siblings at the age of 11 and then I worked with a very sweet girl from the age of 2 until 5 for a few years until she started school and adored working with her. I don't mind doing housework or the possibility of taking care of pets as well as I have to of my own. My favorite activity is to play outside if the weather is nice but if not I love finding new ways to keep everyone entertained and as active as possible. In my free time, I love spending time with my cat and dog, reading, and making fun things.

The most important thing for me would be making sure not only basic needs or routines are met but also to make sure they are having fun and are able to express themselves in the best way possible.

My experience with special needs children...

My youngest brother has autism which required in his case a strict routine, as well as extra help with certain activities, special attention to his meals, a quiet space for when he feels overly stimulated, and plenty of his comfort items in case of a meltdown to help him feel more relaxed, The young girl had a speech impediment that required speech therapy and extra activities at home such as flashcards and extra reading time and activities that would help stimulate her to speak easier.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was the time when I was taking care of the young girl and her mother asked if I could make some cookies for the next day for an occasion and the little girl wanted to help so she got up on the counter and helped with pouring all the ingredients into the bowl and after everything was baked we had a little frosting party where she had a portion that she frosted and decorated and they turned out so cute and we had so much fun it was a little messy but after we cleaned up we each had two cookies that we set aside for all our hard work.
