Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have extensive experience working with children of all ages in a variety of settings. For three years in high school, I was a nanny for a family with three young children, providing hands-on care, planning activities, assisting with homework, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Last summer, I worked full-time as a nanny for a 4-year-old boy in DC, taking him to camps and organizing fun, engaging activities. Additionally, I spent three summers as a camp counselor, leading activities and supervising children ages four to six, as well as mentoring teenagers aged 12 to 14. I also taught youth sports classes at my local YMCA, coaching basketball, soccer, pillow hockey, and gymnastics, along with leading 'Mommy and Me' classes to support motor skill development in young children. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love engaging children in fun, creative, and active experiences that keep them entertained while also helping them learn and grow. Some of my favorite activities include arts and crafts, where we can get messy with paint, make fun DIY projects, or create personalized gifts. I also enjoy anything outdoors—whether it’s playing sports, running around at the park, going on nature walks, or spending the day at the beach swimming and building sandcastles. Baking is another favorite activity, especially letting kids help mix ingredients and decorate treats. I also love using our imaginations—whether it’s playing pretend, building forts, or coming up with creative games. My goal is to make every day fun, active, and filled with opportunities for children to explore, create, and enjoy themselves!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with the children and their family. Beyond just supervising or entertaining, a nanny provides a sense of security, support, and consistency in a child’s life. Creating a nurturing environment where kids feel safe, encouraged, and loved is essential. It’s also about being a positive role model—helping children grow, learn, and develop confidence through meaningful interactions. Whether it’s through play, daily routines, or simply being there when they need comfort, the most fulfilling part of being a nanny is knowing you’ve made a lasting impact on a child’s life.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience working with children with special needs through my time teaching youth sports classes. From time to time, I had children with special needs in my classes, and I made it a priority to support and guide them through activities in a way that ensured they felt included and engaged. Whether it was offering extra encouragement, adapting drills to fit their abilities, or providing one-on-one assistance when needed, I always focused on creating a positive and supportive environment where every child could participate and have fun. This experience has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and an understanding of how to provide individualized support to children in group settings.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when I went back home during Thanksgiving break my freshman year of college and surprised the three kids I used to nanny. The look on their faces when I walked through the door was pure joy—they were so excited, and we all ran into a big group hug that felt like it lasted forever. In that moment, I realized just how strong our bond was and how much I had missed them. Seeing how happy they were to see me reminded me of the deep connection we shared, and it was one of the most heartwarming experiences I’ve ever had.
