Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered all through high school at a hippo-therapy center! I had some of the best experiences there working with the children When I was little my sister was diagnosed with leukemia and I spent most of my childhood tagging along to her hippo therapy sessions after chemo! Volunteering in this way, helped me to realize I wanted to be a pediatric occupational therapist!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’ve always been a big outdoors person! I enjoy hiking, skiing, boating, even a good walk. I believe that nature is healing and so important especially for children. I also consider myself a very creative person and would provide lots of crafts and art projects for your children! Lastly I always LOVED reading with my dad, and that’s something I encourage in all children! Before I could read , my dad would sit next to me and read books while following along with his finger! I think this was a reason that I had an easy time learning to read! Familiarity with words promotes early reading and speech development, so this is something I would implement with the children I nanny!
The most important part about being a nanny...
As a nanny, you aren’t the mom or the dad but you do play a significant role in a child’s life. Gently “parenting” and encouraging children through their growing pains is the MOST beneficial thing I believe you can do. My job is to be another pillar of support and love for your child while encouraging independence and kindness!
