Although I have never received pay for child care experience, I have always been actively involved in volunteer activities for children's events sponsored at my parish, as well as assuming resposibility for the care of my siblings and their friends in the absence of an adult.

I truly enjoy any activity with other people. Baking, drawing, singing and dancing, board games, video games like MarioKart or Super Smash Bros, various sports including soccer and tennis, old-fashioned games like hide-and-seek or freeze tag, and playing with pets/animals. I also enjoy tutoring, helping people find that spark to learn.

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is having true love and affection for children. Any other reason to be in child care means nothing if you do not "care" for the "child" (or children).

I have always looked out for my siblings, and as they got older they too began looking out for our younger cousins. One moment ingrained in my mind is when our cousins were first learning to swim, around 3-4 years old. I was looking after a couple little ones inside while my sister was watching those in the backyard, particularly close to the swimming pool. One decided to take off his floaties and jump in, and my sister promptly jumped in after him. Although shaken and crying, he was back in the pool later that day (with floaties). He called my sister a superhero.
