Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Besides caring for my 2 sons (now in their 20's), collectively I have had decades of nanny experience for 4 different families. I tutored a 4th grade child with dyslexia and taught him how to spell, read and do math. I worked in an after school child care facility, as well as being a special ed pre-school teaching assistant.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When I care for children I'm very hands on, and love doing sensory related projects with them that are fun and educational (ie writing spelling words in the sand, doing math by counting legos as we play with them) as well as art and music activities

My experience with special needs children...
I was a full time single mom parent to my 2 sons, who had ADHD, learning disabilities and were on the spectrum. Through never giving up on them, and teaching them that their "disabilities" were actually gifts, they are now thriving (my youngest is in college studying film, and my oldest "learning disabled in math son" just graduated cum lade from Augustana Univ, with majors in Math and history.
A number of years ago I tutored a 4th grade boy with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, and through teaching him how to learn in the way that was right for him (sensory and visual) he learned how to spell,, read and do math.
Ten years ago I was a special ed pre-school assistant teacher, and helped disabled 3-4 year old children reach their full potential.

The most important part about being a nanny...
While I'm not fluent is Spanish, when I was caring for a little boy every time we would go up the stairs we would count each stair in Spanish. Being only 18 months, soon he was able to count both in English and Spanish!
