More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a daycare teacher (full and part time) in every age group ranging from 4 weeks-13 years!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love playing outside and getting some sun with my little friends, as well as pool time! I also love puzzles or critical thinking exercises, whatever that may look like for the age range I am working with!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is becoming friends with the child you are nannying. Regardless of age it is always possible to get to know a child, and it is so much fun watching their baby personality branch out into a toddler and then preschooler personality. A child doesn't have to talk for you to get to know them, be their friend, or see them for who they are.
My experience with special needs children...
I was raised with several special needs family members! All of them had different needs that I grew up learning to accommodate. In addition, I worked with many kids of all different ages who are on the spectrum for autism, or experienced mild-extreme ADHD related behavior issues. I am proud to say that I was a safe space for those children and they often chose to come to me in hard moments. I also have experience volunteering in autism co-play behavior therapy. I also have experience with children who have Down's Syndrome, but in my personal experience there were no differences between them and children without Down's Syndrome unless they were also diagnosed with Autism, Schizophrenia, BPD, etc. Overall I would say I am very passionate about working with children who have special needs, and I would love to learn what works best for you and your children!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when the boy I've been watching since he was born (he is now almost 4) asked me out of the blue if I was a mommy. It sounds really simple but in that moment it meant something to me that in that moment after knowing me for so long, he began to 1. wonder about me and 2. associate me with a motherly role. He was almost 3 when he asked me that question. I think it was also cute to me because I was still in high school at the time, but to him I was a grown adult.
