More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've been babysitting since I was 12, and have had multiple jobs in childcare. I work camps in the summer, and was an employee for the University of Utah's Biokids program. I mainly cared for infants ages 3 months - 18 months, but also worked with the toddler and preschool classes. I am happy to renew my CPR certification, though I remember it all well through trainings at past jobs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to do enrichment activities with children, whether that be outdoor exploration, sensory play, sorting games, etc. Pretend play is a favorite of mine, as I love watching children's imaginations become a reality for them. Games with toys and other social aspects are another activity I enjoy doing; hide and seek, Legos, storytelling, and more. Age appropriate is so important, and much more easy to make fun than people think! I defer to parents on their preferences when it comes to screens, but am never reliant on that kind of distraction.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I find that the most important part about being a nanny is providing a safe environment for a child to make mistakes, grow, and have fun. It's important to create a genuine sense of comfort, while still providing stability, routine, and accountability. The most important part of being a nanny to me, though, is watching a child experience life in the most innocent way, and learning the lessons they teach me through that.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with children with relatively high functioning Autism, though not any other special needs. I am very patient, and have worked in the medical field, so I am happy to learn more about your child's specific needs if you think we'd be a good fit!
The most important part about being a nanny...
This past summer I was taking care of a little girl who loved to dance. The first time that I met her we had a dance party, and after giving it my all she said to me, "That's okay! I was really bad at dancing when I first started, too." As we got closer, I got a lot better at dancing, at least according to her!
