More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked the last 17 years years as a teacher in Iowa and Missouri. For the last 10 years taught Head Start in Newton. Before that job, I taught two years of Head Start in Marshalltown. I have also volunteered with my children's youth group. I have been the volunteer coach on both my son's baseball team and my daughter's swim and softball team. Along with playing almost all female sports during my school career I had a Iowa Coaching Authorization. However, it expired on a different schedule than my teaching license. I have also coached four years of elementary basketball in Missouri. Additionally, during work during the summer I work as a camp director and Head Teacher.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Before this year I have never been a nanny. However, my favorite teacher moment was teaching parents to use the correct names o: shapes, letters, numbers, colors, and 3-D shapes. One day tha father of one of my student's asked why I used the word rhombus? I explained that I use the correct terminology because I am building the mildren's foundational geometry and mathematics skills. By teaching the children the common vocabulary they are just a little ahead of children who didn't get to attend Head Start or preschool. Also, teaching common vocabulary that students will use in the future, I am building great background knowledge.
My other favorite teacher moment was when we celebrated excellent behavior, with a "Paint Party". I read my favorite children's book: I Ain't goin' to Paint No More by: Karen Boughmont. Before the book was finished, almost every parent was sitting on the carpet with their child focused on the book. It was a very rewarding
