A little bit about me

I am a 49 yrs old and love being a mother of 3 beautiful children that have grown into successful adults. My husband and I have been together for over 30 years as high school sweethearts and are excited to relocate to my home state of Iowa. I have worked with children for over 20 years preceded by work in the medical field. I have always loved taking care of people. Prior to my nanny work I was a licensed family childcare provider and briefly a special education paraprofessional. Over the years I have thousands of hours of education in a wide spectrum of early childhood education as well as, I believe, in being a great parent. I feel children are the most important aspect of our societies future. They should always be loved and guided with the fullest of good intentions and that can take a village which is my role in your family.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have over 20 years of child care experience as a licensed family child care provider, nanny and most important as a parent. I’ve accumulated thousands of hours in early childhood education. I also have experience with special needs care.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Local field trips for community exploration. Parks are always a winner wespecially if water play is involved. I love taking daily walks and exploring nature with the kids. Children’s plays and puppet shows are awesome when available. Frequent trips to the library are a must and extra fun when they are having a special event. I love staying on the move giving the children outlets to experience their communities and activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being an extension of the family. I love the children I work with and I see my job as no different from how I parented my own children. I give them love and respect by guiding them through their everyday challenges that may seems so overwhelming in the moment. My goal is to help nurture children so they will become healthy productive successful citizens in their communities.

My experience with special needs children...

I had children in my care that were diagnosed with a range of specific disabilities; cognitive, physical, mental health, etc. As a parent of a child who has struggled with sensory processing disorder as well as extreme anxiety I understand the patience necessary to meet the child where they are at. Sometimes it is does not feel so special but the rewards are more long term and take time to recognize. I worked as a paraprofessional in a day treatment/ school environment with children that where labeled a danger to themselves and others. I also worked as a Family Advocate with the same company providing respite and family support through therapeutic care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Every moment is precious as I know my time is limited although I keep in touch with many of the families I have worked with over the years. Time is fleeting and children grow fast this I know as a parent. I cherish and love everyday!
