Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I student taught kindergarten and third grade which the students and I both enjoyed. I was always the babysitter who parents trusted to safely care for their children on the weekends and while they were on vacation. As a school psychologist I helped teachers to manage special education children's classroom behaviors so they could learn to their fullest academic potential. Most of the children were transferred into mainstream classes in regular public school and earned good grades. It was hard work but it was fun. I verbally praise children's appropriate behaviors and academic performance which increases the likelihood that they will succeed.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I find that children like to play monopoly, chess, checkers, solitaire, drawing and watching cartoons as well as playing sports. They get to choose what games and sports that they like to play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Keeping the children safe from the negative influences in their environment and know that they can always ask for help with any problems or concerns that they may have.

The special needs children with whom I have worked develop to their fullest potential in terms of their self-care, desired behaviors and academic performance. They receive verbal praise and rewards for their achievements and they demonstrate increased self-esteem.
