I was a Teaching Assistant at the dance company where I took classes. I taught combo classes for ages 5-7.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Music is a big passion of mine! I love singing songs with the kids (that are obviously appropriate). I like doing arts and crafts with the kids, as well as making little theater plays as I was a theater kid in high school. Watching movies with the kids is fun too but I try to be minimal with screen time as that’s how I was raised.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The kids. Absolutely the kids. Spending time with them, making sure they’re happy, the life lessons that happen that they never forget, just overall the memories.
My experience with special needs children...
Growing up neurodivergent, I was surrounded by peers with disabilities; physical, mental and emotional. I have always been very accepting and caring to individuals who we may not personally relate to. I don’t want them to feel tokenized or feel “less than” the majority. I do understand the responsibility that comes with helping and watching these children with more 1 on 1 focus, stronger routine boundaries and emotional regulation and stimulation that these kids may need. Nothing makes me happier than having kids thrive and accept who they are! That’s what important to me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There are plenty of funny memories to me like one little asking me what a VCR was, and I realized how old I’m getting. One moment that sticks out to me was having this little girl who I taught dance to giving me the biggest hug when she saw me in public. I was certainly not expecting it, but it made me overjoyed that she was that happy to see me.
