More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at the YMCA camp as a counselor for 4 years. My first years were spent working with the youngest age at camp (7-8 year olds). My last years were spent working with the leadership campers ages 12-16.
I also worked as a nanny for a first grader and a separate family with a 1 year old and 3 year old. I also have experience with newborns and young children caring for my godson who just turned 2.
Additionally I grew up considering my neighbors my second family. They have 4 sons that are like my little brothers. I got a lot of experience babysitting and caring for them as if I was their older sister.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outdoors and focusing on activities that target key development stages. I love the help kids learn new things while making it fun and entertaining.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is fostering a relationship with the children where they know I can be a safe space. I want them to know that we can have lots of fun together but that I am also a caregiver who they need to respect/listen to (not just think its only fun and games when I am around). I also think as a nanny it is important to help out in anyway I can. Whether thats running to the grocery store, helping to clean, or simply lending a listening ear I want to help ease any of the burdens you face.
My experience with special needs children...
My older sister has severe special needs. Growing up with her I learned a lot about patience and understanding that not all brains work the same way.
I also worked as a peer tutor in high school and assisted the students in the classes.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment is a little biased because it was when I was caring for my god son who knows me as "auntie mads." He just turned two and within the last few weeks he has learned how to say "auntie mads" and it just melts my heart. Now he gets so excited anytime he knows I am coming over and will say "auntie mads, play cars" to his mom a bunch before I arrive. Once I arrive he does a little excited dance and shouts "play cars, play cars, play cars" because he knows we always have so much fun playing with his cars.
