I used to work for Kiddie Academy and before that I was hired by relatives and friends of those relatives. Word spread around about my availability and I was more than happy to help wherever I could.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some indoor activities would definitely range between age groups. But I always try to incorporate an activity that will benefit the children’s brain and development and also having fun. This could be matching games, “I spy”, card games/board games. Outdoor activities may be hopscotch, going for a walk, jump rope, and sometimes indoor door toys that can be brought outside for younger children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny for me is making sure all the kids I see are comfortable with me. If a kid is unsure then maybe we need more time with known family with me there. But if a kid does not feel comfortable with being around me, I never want to force a child to have to be with someone they do not know. Close up to that would be their safety and making sure they come first.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not directly worked with special needs children. I do not work with them as I am not licensed and I want the special needs children to get proper care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment being a nanny is when one of the kids I was watching I was able to see grow up from an infant to a toddler to preschool and up. I saw how they grew based off of what they learned from me and being able to trust me and enjoy my company beyond teaching and learning.
